Meet our team:

Qifeng Cheng

Hey there! I'm Qifeng, a second-year grad student diving into the mysteries of cosmology by day, but secretly fascinated by just about everything else (don't tell my advisor!) I'm on a mission to build a community that's as vast and interconnected as the cosmos itself—a place where ideas from different fields collide and create something brilliant. Whether you're a biologist with a passion for poetry or an economist with a green thumb, I believe the most innovative solutions come from unexpected collaborations. My goal? To create a space where we can explore beyond our comfort zones, support each other's growth, and build a network of care, love, and boundless curiosity. If you're ready to expand your intellectual universe and join a community that nurtures while it inspires, let's connect and embark on this exciting interdisciplinary adventure together!

Ruth Verrinder

I am a Ph.D. student in Dr. Jon Viventi’s lab in the biomedical engineering department. We develop implantable electronics for neuroscience, especially epilepsy monitoring. In my spare time, I enjoy creative writing, literature and debate. My favorite Bridge event is the Socrates Café discussion. Being a member has been a great way to unite my interests in different fields and learn new things!

Pasha Zamani

Curiosity isn't just a trait—it's my way of life. My relentless pursuit of knowledge and experiences has taken me across the globe, from the vibrant landscapes of my homeland, Iran, to the historic halls of Russia, the artistic heart of Italy, the bustling streets and beaches of Barcelona, and now, immersed in the wonderful diversity of the United States. Each place has deepened my understanding of the world and the human condition. Fascinated by everything from the tiny world of electrons to the vast complexities of biological and social systems, I find joy in connecting the dots across the spectrum of science and culture. This passion has guided my academic journey, leading me to explore various disciplines. I’ve earned degrees in Electronics, Control Engineering, Cognitive Sciences and Technologies, and Neuroscience. Currently, I am undertaking my first postdoctoral position at the Social Science Research Institute at Duke, working in the field of computational social psychology. I am excited to be part of Bridge at Duke, where we are committed to bringing together diverse methodological, ontological, and epistemological approaches to enrich our understanding of the world we live in.

Andrey Nosatov

I'm a PhD student in Biomedical Engineering at Duke, investigating the mechanisms of nucleic acid vaccine function. I did my undergraduate studies in Materials Science and Engineering at UIUC. In my free time I swim, hike, grow native flowers and make educational videos on YouTube. I've been interested in interdisciplinary science and science communication since before high school, and have always strived to make connections with new people and learn about new things to further my understanding of everything I encounter.
